University and College Search Marketing Web Solution

The solution enables searching for universities and colleges in the USA and Canada by different criteria. Educational institutions can buy leads represented by potential entrants. School leavers can search through thousands of colleges and universities and apply online form a single Web resource.

The company is one of the largest search marketing firms in the US. It needs to broaden the range of services by providing information to universities and colleges about school leavers who might be interested in attending their educational organizations. The resource should compile a database of such candidates, which can be later on provided to educational institutions. The school leavers should be able to search educational institutions and apply to as many of them as they want with a click of a button.

The customer needs to add university and college search functionality and an advanced back end with a great number of settings, levels of administration, various filters, advanced features for e-mail marketing, and much more.

The existing system was very complicated; it was hard to add new modules, we had to test them without sacrificing the performance of the entire search system. The team had to find solutions to problems that were hard even to identify—the project consisted of 12-15 modules that were closely connected with each other, but there were only few engineers at the customer’s who understood the entire system business logic and structure.

Our Java development team had to study customer’s system from scratch. We examined each module and piece of code, studied how it interacts with other elements of the system. Each unit was carefully tested, which enabled the team to prevent similar problems in other parts of the system.
